Have you noticed how many of your friends don't spend their weekend or go on vacation alone (or with their partner only)? They prefer to call more friends, relatives, other couples, parents... And only in the company of 7-8 people they feel comfortable to spend free time.
I think, here lies one of the major problems of modern society. Individuals are not able to stay alone with themselves. They are scared to face their own personality, ask themselves questions, simply think about what they personally need.
We so much not in love with ourselves, that we prefer to create a lot of "white noise" of foreign presence and others' opinions. We keep ourselves busy doing something for others, so forgetting about our own needs.
